If someone were to ask me what things in this world I would need to survive, one of them would most definitely be music. Music is such an important aspect in my life, and I don't know where I would be today without it. Everyone has their ways of dealing with the hard and tough curveballs that life throws at you, and for me I either write or listen to music.

The thing I love most about music is that you can find a song for ANY mood you're in. If you're feeling on top of the world, play Good as Hell by Lizzo. If you're sad and need a good cry, Mercy by Brett Young will get you every time, and if you need uplifting and to know your worth, Cardi B all the way.

Music has a way of transforming emotions into background music and words into lyrics, but in the best way possible, which is why I am going to list my top ten favorite artists (at the moment).

Side note: Instead of a blog post bop, I'm going to include one my favorite songs by each of these artists, which yes, makes that TEN blog post bops instead of one, lucky you.

Lauv

#1: Lauv

If anyone reading this knows me, you should know that my all-time favorite artist is Lauv. I found one of first songs around 4 years ago and ever since then, I haven't stopped listening. Every single one of his songs are incredible. He has an album titled "I met you when I was 18" and if you listen to all of the songs in the order that they are arranged in, it shares his whole story with love and heartbreak over one of his previous girlfriends. Lauv writes songs that a listener can relate to but also jam to which is one of the things I love about this artist.

#2: Khalid

How can someone not like Khalid? Like Lauv, all of his songs are ridiculously good, but especially his newest album "Free Spirit". He has those songs that you can scream the lyrics to at the top of your lungs, but also the slow vibing ones that you listen to when you're on a late night drive. The fact that Khalid is so successful and talented at 21 AND he started his career when he was 18 amazes me.

#3: Kehlani

Kehlani is an R&B Queen. Her music ranges from heartbreak, to falling in love, to empowering women, to knowing your worth. Lately, she's been making music with bigger artists like Ty Dolla Sign and 6lack. I highly recommend listening to her album, "While We Wait". Her voice is one of the most unique out of all of the R&B female artists, and every single one of her songs are jams.

#4: Sam Smith

Although he hasn’t come out with tons of new music recently, Sam Smith will always be one of the best artists out there. His voice is so unique and powerful, it instantly puts me in my feels. The thing I love most about Sam Smith is that all of his songs have a genuine meaning. He’s not making music just to make music, he creates stories and emotion.

#5: Jonas Brothers (especially Nick Jonas)

If any of you readers knew me in middle school, you know that I was obsessed with Nick Jonas and I can’t say that that obsession has dwindled at all. The Jonas Brothers are back and how can someone not love them again? Before they broke up, everyone was listening to them. Now that they’re back together, they’ve made an album, a memoir and a documentary? What heartthrobs. (10/10 recommend watching their documentary on amazon prime video).

#6: Ariana Grande

No, I don’t love her just because of her name (even though every time I meet someone, they always say “like Ariana Grande?”), but she is such a great role model. She creates music for herself rather than what everyone else wants and is always just doing her own thing. Almost every song that she comes out with is a chart topper, and I don’t think she can be stopped at this point.

Jordan Davis

#7: Jordan Davis

Jordan Davis, a country artist, is such a fun artist to listen to. Typically, country songs include love and heartbreak, but Jordan Davis takes it to a whole new level. He has songs ranging from upbeat, get off your feet and start dancing songs, and then the songs that make you want to cry about a person that did you wrong that you've never even met.

#8: Thomas Rhett

Whenever I think country music, I always think of Thomas Rhett. He lives the life anyone can dream of. He’s incredibly successful in his career and also keeps up with and doesn’t let anything come between him and his family. I love that in majority of his music, he tells a story that has a meaning to him in some way. Even if you don’t like country music, how can you not love Thomas Rhett?

#9: Ella Mai

Ella Mai is another R&B Queen but also a musical genius. Her most recent album is self-titled, and throughout her album, some of her songs end with her talking and she states a word that starts with a specific letter and explains what the word means. If you keep track of all of the letters she says in order, each letter spells out her name and describes the meaning of her album and her identity. You cannot tell me that that isn’t the coolest thing.

Kiana Ledé

#10: Kiana Ledé

Kiana is another R&B artist that continues to produce bumpin’ songs. She doesn't have a large number of songs, but she does have one album that is really good. She just gained a lot of popularity and fame because of her song “Ex” but I can promise her other songs do not disappoint.

I wanted to do something different, so I hope you all enjoyed this blog. If you have any comments or suggestions on future blogs, please let me know!

Keep on keepin' on,
