Technically, freshman year isn't over, but the experience is, so I voted that this called for a new blog. My last post was a fall semester recap, and who would've thought that I would be writing this 3 months later instead of 5. In my last blog, I didn't touch on any events that happened throughout the semester, so here's a blog with around a semester and a half worth of events and fun things we did to keep our sanity.

Let's start from the beginning:

Date: August 21, 2019

Event: MOVE IN!

Although it was kind of hectic, move in was so fun! I got an early move in day, which was the day before the rest of campus, and it was really nice not having to deal with tons of people. I was pretty lucky, my room was on the first floor and in one of the buildings closest to the street, so the 6 trips from my dorm room to the car weren't terrible. My roommate and I got a day to ourselves to hang out, and meet a few other people before the other people in our hall moved in. We met a ton of people and played Uno and Cards Against Humanity all night. Corbett lobby was the best, especially with the spinning chairs. It was a really good people watching area (my fav hobby!!)

Event: Ramapalloza

Ramapalloza was an event our school hosted that featured tons of games and activities. There were live performers, a laser tag arena, casino games, and live karaoke. Our RA killed the karaoke with his famous yodeling. I got to know my favorite people ever, my suite mates (pictured). As cliche as they were, the freshman welcome events were always fun. The amount of people you meet is insane (and never talked to again). And of course, why not get a picture with Cam the Ram while there?

Event: Rocky Mountain Showdown - First college football game

This was probably the best football game we had this year. We played our rivals, CU Boulder, at the Mile High Stadium, home of the best NFL team there is (the Broncos, duh)! We left right after class, drove a little over an hour to Denver, and tailgated for a few hours which was super fun. We bombarded on other people's tailgates and played corn hole with them, and also went to the frat tailgates. I almost got hit in the head with a beer can, but what's a tailgate without a frat guy standing on top of a truck and throwing open beers?

Date: September 6 and 7, 2019

Events: Dinner with the hall and our first home football game

One Friday night, my hall and I all went to dinner at a place called Mo Jeaux's. During the first few weeks of school we all got really close, so dinner was a lot of fun!

The next day, we had our first home football game. We played Western Illinois and won! We also got a picture with President McConnell, which we made sure to get one every home game.

Event: Destress Sunday!

During the first semester, we had lots of destress Sundays where we would take breaks from homework, go to the hot tub, watch movies, just hang out, or do face masks! We tried to do this every week, to forget about stress and school work, and it was definitely the highlight to every weekend.

Date: October 2-6, 2019

Event: Homecoming weekend

During homecoming and family weekend, CSU hosted lots of events. We had a parade and festival during the week which were tons of fun. On that Friday, they had live music to go and listen to, then they made a gigantic fire and let off fireworks. They also do the tradition of lighting the A, which is an A outlined with lights on Horsetooth Mountain which we can see from campus. The A represents the Aggies, which was our mascot before Cam the Ram came along when we were an agricultural school. On that Saturday during the morning, we host a 5k race, and then during the night, we had our homecoming football game. We played San Diego State and lost :(. No worries though, we still had tons of fun.

Date: October 31, 2019

Event: Halloween!

For Halloween, my roommate and I dress as Zero and Caveman. We got asked a lot if we were jailbirds, but once they read the names on our water jugs they finally understood. The weekends before and after halloween were pretty lively on campus! We saw tons of people dressed up and going out to show off their costumes.

Date: December 14, 2019

Event: Zoo lights at the Denver Zoo

Just as it sounds, the Denver Zoo lights up everything with lights. They also had outdoor animals out, but it was mostly for the light up attraction. As you walked through the zoo, they had different themed areas and lights to correspond. They had nature areas, with butterflies and flowers, they had an oceanic area, with dolphins and whales, and so much more!

Date: Spring semester!

Because spring semester got cut short, we didn't experience any CSU events, but we did go on many ice cream and Dutch Bros dates, visited Horsetooth and Estes Park, went to the gym lots, and goofed around like always. Spring semester was somehow more enjoyable than fall semester. The weather started getting nicer so we would study and do homework outside, we didn't dread walking to class, and we always had so much fun together.

The amount of excitement I have for this upcoming fall semester is unreal!
