Whether you're a college student, high school student, or just need a break from life, the holiday breaks in November and December are far too exciting. Most of us finally get that time we need to relax and rejuvenate and prepare for endless amounts of holiday shopping. Some of us have to prepare for the end of the semester and (it hurts to say it) finals. Spending quality time with your family, friends, and dogs seem to wash all of our worries away before the push to the end of the year. Why not add another reason to forget about it all by watching endless amounts of TV shows?
Over both holiday breaks, I know that all I'm going to want to do is sleep and relax, but what's relaxing without binge-watching Netflix? (Or maybe Disney+). I picked my top 12 favorite TV shows on Netflix and Hulu to suggest for everyone to watch.
Side note: Don't blame me if you get extremely addicted or hate a show I suggest. Watch at your own risk, friendies.
*All on Netflix EXCEPT #4*
#1: Stranger Things
Genre: Sci-fi, Thriller, Drama
(3 seasons)
If you haven't seen the show already, turn on Netflix and start watching it right now. This show is 100% the best show on Netflix right now and deserves every TV show award it can get. With the mix of suspense, comedy, and sci-fi action, it makes for one of the best binge-worthy shows. Watch and learn all about D&D and the upside down, and I promise you won't regret it.
#2: YOU
Genre: Thriller, Crime, Drama
(1 season)
If you're looking for a show to keep you on your toes, this is a show for you. Based off of the novel YOU, every episode has a new and cliff-hanging surprise. I can almost promise you'll get attached to the show after the first episode. Season 2 comes out December 26, so start now.
#3: On My Block
Genre: Drama, Comedy
(2 seasons)
If you need a good laugh and a show with a interesting plot, this one is for you. Set in South Central LA, the teenage struggles the characters go through will continue to keep you hooked. Although it can be cheesy at times, it is unlike any other show I've seen, which is why I highly recommend it.
#4: The Good Doctor (on Hulu)
Genre: Medical Drama
(2 seasons, 1 airing now)
If you're into medical shows, like Grey's Anatomy, then watch this show. The main character is a surgical resident with autism and the show demonstrates his daily struggles and how he overcomes them being in a medical profession.
#5: Manhunt: Unabomber
Genre: Documentary Drama, Crime
(1 season)
During the late 1970s and into the 1990s, Ted Kaczynski got away with 16 bombings all while sending letters to the FBI and putting in hints in the newspaper and somehow kept his identity a secret. This show is a fiction-based documentary of the FBI agent that was involved in the Ted Kaczynski case.
#6: Dead to Me
Genre: Comedy, Drama, Crime
(1 season)
This show is the definition of twisted. Each episode, you'll learn something new that will probably blow your mind and make you rethink the entire plot. If you're into interesting, but definitely dramatic shows, you'll love this one.
#7: Marlon
Genre: Comedy
(2 seasons)
Marlon Wayans plays himself in this show, and it's your typical fiction family TV comedy. It's a good show to keep on in the background when you're doing other things, or when you just need a laugh.
Other must-watches:
American Horror Story (Thriller, Horror, Drama)
Bates Motel (Mystery, Horror, Drama)
QB1: Beyond the Lights (Documentary, Sports)
Last Chance U (Documentary, Sports)
Criminal Minds (Mystery, Sci-fi, Crime, Drama)
